In this programme, we salute the railway town of Swindon in Wiltshire. We take a look at some of the fine examples of
the heavy engineering that emanated from the Great Western Railway's Swindon works .
Many of these Swindon built steam locomotives can still be found in action today on both the mainline and preserved railways of Britain.

Covering a construction period from 1903 to 1960 the locomotives are shown in class building order.
The programme has an informative narration by Jeremy English.
